Verstegen
Tim is a Netherlands-based composer specializing in original scores for film, television, and games.
With roots in percussion, Tim has a deep understanding of rhythm and timbre, and a unique approach to sound. Tim adds something truly innovative to each story, such as a newly developed virtual instrument based on his vibraphone covered with aluminum foil. With access to more then hundred instruments that he can play and manipulate, Tim is the creative partner and multi-instrumentalist to elevate your narrative to the next level.
Tim collaborates with Triumph Audio, a Los Angeles-based sample library company. By contributing to their latest releases and developing virtual instruments in his own studio, he offers a unique and tailored approach to every project.
His latest credits include the original score for the documentary Broertje is Verdwaald & A Genuine van Megen and, as part of René Merkelbach’s “Audiocult” team, contributing to the multi-immersive film La Leyenda del Titanic, which premiered in Madrid in September 2024.
Tim also works as a conductor and has led orchestras such as the Brașov Philharmonic Orchestra and the Berlin Sinfonietta.
Tim earned his Master of Fine Arts in Professional Media & Games Composition from the University of Chichester in England in Summer 2024.
As a freelance percussionist, Tim performs with major orchestras such as the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, he works as a session musician for various composers.
With a deep-rooted sense of rhythm, innovation, and a unique sonic approach, I create immersive scores with custom-built virtual instruments, crafted specifically for your project, to elevate your story to the next level.
“Tim is a great composer that sees music through the lens of emotion. He hits the right tone every time and writes music that moves, builds and highlights the project he scores. His scores are modern and current yet timeless in their execution and tone. ”
